Just Me

I am a stay at home mother, I am also self employed for all intents and purposes. I write for a living and for a while that was going very well. Then I went part time, now I would be on vacation. Sort of. This vacation was not planned  but with Summer here and school out I have no choice.

I have a teenage stepdaughter, a daughter from a previous marriage and a daughter from this marriage. My youngest daughter is moderately autistic on the spectrum of Autism Spectrum Disorders. She has PDD-NOS.

Theresa is very smart although she requires a lot of attention. A touch of OCD makes life rather interesting but I've grown used to it. She loves to clean and go to work with mommy although she has a tendency to pull everything out of my desk at her leisure. She also gets mad if you touch her stuff or your stuff for that matter.

One day at a time we live with autism and everyday we remember that it's not that bad. It's actually a learning experience and a glimpse into a world that one day we'll understand.

Our Summer is going to be spent at therapy four days a week minus one of the therapist until they find a new spot for her in OT. That or we change therapists.

The baby got a new OT and her summer speech at the school has ended. This means that while we have one less appointment we're still out of the house part of four days a week.

My Writing Career

on Sep 30, 10 at 02:11 AM

The School year has started back and I've all but stopped working. The choice was mine but there are days when I think it may have been the wrong one. I still have enough income to take care of expenses which is good. I needed the additional time to keep up with appointments and all of the other things that have been neglected while I worked late into the night.

I started to write a book the other day. I had the first half all figured out then I opened the program to start and my mind went blank. The book is in my head somewhere and I guess it'll come out when it's ready until then I'll just keep writing articles. I have a few that I can expand on to turn into short books.

OK that's all for now I'm rather tired and I have a few more things to update before I go to bed.

Well, the average work week is 40 with 30 still considered full time by most. Less than 30 is thought of as part-time. Lately I've been working less than part-time. That might not be a problem if the work still covered the expenses. It's not anymore, so it's a real good thing my income isn't being depended on to pay the bills. I have to figure something out.

I'm not going to be able to go back to writing for others the same way I was. The baby is in therapy five days a week right now. Preschool doesn't start back until the 19th and it's only two half days which leaves me to work with her at home just as many hours as we have been since she began therapy. Daddy goes back to work when school starts back so that means he won't be able to help with therapy anymore.
